¿Quién no conoce a este boxeador? Rocky Balboa es uno de los héroes que llegaron a nuestra pantalla a finales de los setentas y principios de los ochenta. No obstante, el Potro italiano está más cercano a un antihéroe de lo que luego mostraron en Rocky III y IV: un hombre con limitaciones y que sabe cuáles son; nunca fue inteligente, como bien se encargaba de repetirle su padre, y que boxear es lo único que sabe hacer y que hace bien.
La saga de Rocky Balboa me ha acompañado a lo largo de mi vida y le tengo un cariño especial. Cuando vi la primera entrega y la segunda, no tendría más de diez años y creía firmemente que si uno lucha lo suficientemente duro consigue lo que se propone. Los buenos siempre ganan. Pero a medida que se suceden las secuelas, Rocky gana, pierde, de hecho lo pierde todo y los años no ayudan. Hasta llegar a los sesenta años en “Rocky Balboa”, la última entrega y para mí un buen broche final, en la que presenta a un hombre solo, su mujer ha muerto años atrás, él tiene un restaurante en el que cuenta sus anécdotas a los clientes y su hijo apenas quiere saber de él. Luego, por causas que no quiero contar para no desvelar nada de la trama, se le presenta la oportunidad de volver al ring; y la aprovecha porque los boxeadores boxean.
Al final la saga de Rocky es la historia de un hombre con un sueño y que lucha por él, que gana mucho en el camino y pierde mucho a su vez pero siempre tratando de ser fiel a sí mismo. Y si a mis diez años creía que los buenos siempre ganan, ahora a mis treinta y muchos creo que no importa ganar o perder, sólo permanecer fiel a mis ideas, a mí misma.
Who doesn´t know this boxer? Rocky Balboa is one of the heroes whom adventures arrived to our screens at the end of seventies and eighties. However, Italian Stallion is closer to an anti-hero that the character in the movies Rocky III or IV: just a man with handicaps and he knows them very well; he was never very smart, as his father told him time after time, and boxing is what he knows to do and do it well.
Rocky movies saga are special to me because I watched them when I was a kid. In that time, I strongly believed that if you try something harder enough you will get it. Good guys always win. Nevertheless, while I´ve watched the following sequels I saw Rocky wining and losing, even more losing everything and time doesn´t help. Until the last sequel, Rocky Balboa, for me, this last one is really good ending. In this one we can see an alone man, his wife died some years ago, now he manages a restaurant where he tells his boxing souvenirs to the clients and his son doesn´t want to be in touch with him. Later on, for reasons I prefer not to tell to avoid spoiler the movie, Rocky got a chance to go back to the ring because the boxers boxed.
As summary, Rocky movies saga is the story of a man with a dream and he fights for it. He won and lost a lot but he always was truly himself. When I was ten years old, I used to think that the good guys always won but now, I´m thirty something and I think that it´s not a matter of winning or losing, just a matter of who you are and you believe.
