Prague – Some suggestions

October 24th, 2009 by Cornflakegirl

Last September, we spent four days in Prague and I´d like to recommend you some of the places where we were. First of all,  Bohemia Plaza was a very surprising option. It is a 4-star hotel where we reserved a double room. This room had the exit directly to the street, the room was a big duplex with a very nice bathtub in the besdroom. The price per night was quite cheap, cheaper than many of the B&B where we´ve been in Ireland.

During our stay, we visited all the touristic places such as the Astronomic Clock, Prague casttel, Charles bridge, Jewish Quarter (Josejov) and rambling on the Old Town. We also visited Kafka museum because of Franz Kafka, together with Boris Vian, are my favorite writers so, it was mandatory to drop by the museum. The museum was decorated like it was an old attic (together with a room decorated like an archive. I must confess that they really mystified the writer, maybe too much. I don´t know if this was unavoidable. However, the exhibition was very interesting indeed.

We enjoyed eating in the streets markets and stalls but I would like to recommend you some of the restaurants.  Klub Architetuk was a nice cozy restaurant with very reasonable prices.  Restaurant Mucha was a place decorated with Alfons Mucha´s paintings; it offers a menu with czech and international dishes. But without any doubt, the best restaurant where we´re in Prague was Mount Steak with a menu focused on  all kinds of steaks (from beef and pork to the most exotic animals like shark, cocodrile, aligator, reindeer, antolope, snake and many other).  The prices were very good as well.  Nevertheless if you like cakes and ices creams, you can´t miss the chance to go to  Ovocne lahudky Svetozor where we enjoyed the best dark chocolate ice cream that I´ve ever tasted. To fin the address in English, please cick here.  I´m sure that I´m forgetting other places but these are what we liked them most.

And I didn´t say yet how beautiful Prague is!

Xmas is coming and all the headaches are on their ways as well. As I know how hard is to find the perfect gift, this is my first suggestions: a perfume and if you think that a deep scent with a dreeping with seaweed is not what you´re looking for, in this web you would definitely find it.

Tori and her precious things

October 4th, 2009 by Cornflakegirl

On Thursday 24th September, I attended a Tori Amos´concert for first time. It took place in Kongresové Centrum in Prague, Czech Republic. We were on the first row of the first floor and from there, we could see all the stage.  In the middle there was an impressive black  grand piano and three keyboards. One of them on the grand piano and the other two behind Tori. On the right, the drummer was with a huge drumms section with a gong at his back. On the left,  the bass player was. This guy played not only the bass player but different kinds of guitar,  avioloncello, a bass profundo  and some other instruments.

When Tori came out on the stage, she looked tiny but when she started singing, she filled  the stage. You couldn´t look at any other places but hers. She was playing for about three hours without any break  but it flew very fast. She didn´t speak too much with the audience but when she did, she was warm and so close. I would like to point out the quality of the musicians who played with her. They were professional and stunning.

It was a very special concert. The songs that I liked them more were Cornflake Girl and Precious Things. In both of them, the audience went crazy and during the second one, the drummer was fantastic., breathtaking!
