Schmap. Aunque no es de las mejores que he hecho, me siento muy orgullosa. Estoy deseando ver la nueva edición.

El pasado sábado acudí al seminario
Getting Published en el CFC y fue una experiencia muy interesante. Vinieron escritores, agentes y editores para hablar de su “lado” del negocio, y por supuesto, de su opinión. Hicieron hincapié en la calidad, en que publicar es un negocio y escribir, un arte.
Last Saturday, I attended the seminar
Getting Published in CFC and it was very interesting. Some writer, publishers and agents came to talk about their “side” of the story and of course, gave some advised and opinions. They strongly indicated how important is the quality of the works but the remarked as well that writing is a craft but publishing is a business.
Salí de allí con mil ideas en la cabeza; con el deseo de tener tiempo para plasmar todas ellas pero también con un pregunta de por qué escribo. Dejando de lado los lugares comunes y las respuestas interesantes. No sabría explicar por qué. Como dijo

I went out with thounsand ideas in my head; wishing I could have the time to write them down but I was wondering why I was writing. If I put all the common anwers and the coolest ones on one side; I hardly know why. As
Bukowski said once, if I stop writing, the rats would eat me from inside.
Tengo miedo al silencio y a la nada, que el eco de un ruido vital se escape y se repita inalcanzable. En esta espera sinsentido, necesito el calor que proporciona la compañia de la ficción, o tendría que decir, mi propia voz. Me ha costado mucho tiempo escucharla y ahora, no puedo perderla. Volvería a estar sola, rodeada por las ratas.
I´m scared of the silence and the void, I´m afraid I might lose my life noise and I wouldn´t get it back. In this nonsense waiting, I need the warmth of company of my fictions or should I say my own voice? I spent a lot of time searching until I found it and now, I just can´t lose it. I would be alone, surrounded by the rats.

Si tengo una debilidad es la de hacer listas y me acabo de dar cuenta de que, en todo este tiempo, no he puesto ninguna en el blog. Así que he decidido poner escribir mi Top 10. Cierto es que tanto los post de
Guillermo como los de
Zhu, me han inspirado. Mi primera lista es los 10 escritores irlandeses que más me gustan.
I must confess that I’ve a soft spot for making lists for anything and I’ve realised that I didn’t include any in the blog so far. So I’ve made up my mind and I will write my Top 10. It’s true that
Guillermo’s and
Zhu’s post have been inspiring for it. Here it goes, my Top-10 of my favorite Irish writers.

Cuando llegamos a DublÃn en 2005, Miguel y yo en 2006; lo que más nos costó fue abrir una cuenta bancaria. Aunque sólo se necesita el pasaporte y alguna prueba de residencia, como el
PPS number (personal public service) ; a la hora de la verdad depende de la entidad bancaria asà como de la sucursal. En nuestro caso, no aceptaron ni la carta del PPS (aunque en algunos casos se solicita en hostales y albergues, lo habÃamos solicitado desde el estudio en el estabamos viviendo). De hecho, tampoco aceptaron los contratos que tenÃamos de ambos trabajos. Tras mucho batallar, lo único que aceptaron fue un
certificado de impuestos y pudimos abrir nuestras cuentas bancarias.
When we arrived in Dublin, Miguel in 2005 and me in 2006; opening a bank account was the hardest and most difficult thing we faced at that time. Although we only needed a passport and any document to confirm the address like
PPS number letter(personal public service) ; it depends on the bank and on the branch in the end. In our case, they didn´t accept my PSS number letter (you can request your PPS number from a hostel or from a host family home or whenever but we requested from the studio where we were living). Even more, they didn´t accept our job contracts. After requesting many letters and other documents, they only accepted a
tax certificate and we could open the bank accounts.
Han pasado más de tres años, casi cuatro, cuando decidà cambiar de entidad bancaria porque la mÃa no me estaba ofreciendo nada interesante y encima tenÃa que pagar mantenimiento de cuenta. Retrasé bastante la visita a otros bancos porque no querÃa volver a pasar por lo mismo pero cual no será mi sorpresa cuando entro en una sucursal del nuevo banco y con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja, un asesor me dice que no tengo que solicitar una apertura de cuenta sino abrirla directamente. Tras rellenar un par de formularios, ya tenÃa cuenta nueva.¡ Sólo les faltó hacerme reverencias!
After more than three years, almost four, I´ve made up my mind and decided to change my accounts to a new bank because of the previous´bank products. They aren´t very good and I have to pay for account maintenance. I postponed the moment to search for a new bank because I didn´t want to face so many issues again. However, I couldn´t belive when I dropped by the new bank branch and it was very easy. No application was needed just fill two application form and the account was almost done! I wasn´t there, I wouldn´t believe it!
Aún me sorprende lo fácil que está resultando.
Even now I´m surprised how easyly it´s going on!
