Just a loaded gun

Last Saturday, I attended the seminar Getting Published in CFC and it was very interesting. Some writer, publishers and agents came to talk about their “side” of the story and of course, gave some advised and opinions. They strongly indicated how important is the quality of the works but the remarked as well that writing is a craft but publishing is a business.

I went out with thounsand ideas in my head; wishing I could have the time to write them down but I was wondering why I was writing. If I put all the common anwers and the coolest ones on one side; I hardly know why. As Bukowski said once, if I stop writing, the rats would eat me from inside.

I´m scared of the silence and the void, I´m afraid I might lose my life noise and I wouldn´t get it back. In this nonsense waiting, I need the warmth of company of my fictions or should I say my own voice? I spent a lot of time searching until I found it and now, I just can´t lose it. I would be alone, surrounded by the rats.

Certainly don’t stop writing even if you can’t find a reason to do it… Art don’t need a reason and you have beautiful style…

Did you find the time to continue your novel?

Johanna – from the Getting Published seminar.

The business aspects of publishing have always scared me a bit, especially given that I’m not a marketing person. Yet, I’d like to write more…

You should read a book by the Irish author I was telling you about last time, “the other side of the story”. The main characters are editor/ writer/ publisher employee. It’s very funny and quite good.

Johanna: Hi there, you´re right, we don´t need a reason. And no, I´m busy these days with my French examn after taking it, I hope to have time for it.

Zhu: Hi again, I´m not marketing person either but at the moment my only concern is the quality of my writing.

I noted this book and if I find it, I will read it. Thanks for the recomendations.

Thanks you two for reading and commenting!

vitt: por supuesto, no escribir es mucho peor. Me encantó verte publicado en minatura! a ver si te animas a mandar más!

    Muchos besos.
