Las redes sociales no sólo sirven para ponerte en contacto con gente del colegio, de otros trabajos, amigos, etc. Sino que puede ayudar a conocer a gente con gustos afines. Entre todas las redes sociales que hay, quizás dos de más famosas sean Facebook y Twitter. Ambas muy diferentes y ambas con millones de seguidores.
Social networks can help you to get in touch with school mates, previous jobs mates, friends but meet new people with the same likes and dislikes too. Maybe the most famous ones are Facebook and Twitter. both of them very different and both with millions of users.
Twitter es una forma de comunicación limitada a 140 caracteres. A pesar de su brevedad, dentro de la misma permite desde microbloggin’ (escribir un blog con microentradas) hasta los chats. Aunque parezca sencillo, no lo es. Gracias a varios tutoriales, pude entender como iba y desde hace unos meses estoy muy enganchada. Me ha ayudado a conocer a poetas, escritores, agentes y por supuesto, he hecho nuevos amigos. Mediante las etiquetas (hashtags) puedes buscar entradas que las contengan y puedes seguir a usuarios que estén interesados en lo mismo que tú.
Twitter is 140-character communication service platform. It could be a microbloggin’ service and social networking. With these messages, known as tweets, users can send and receive messages and using hash tags (tags with symbol hash) can chat as well. Maybe it could seem quite easy but it took me a while to get use to it and now, it hooks on me. It helped me to meet new friends, poets, writers and agents. Using the hashtags I’ve met many users with my same hobbies.
Lo que más me ha sorprendido del twitter es lo cercanos que están los artistas de sus fans. Puedes escribirles, comentar sobre lo que ellos dicen y saber cuándo van a estar en cualquier evento.
The thing that surprised me most is how close the artists are to fans. You can write them, comment about what they’re saying and know when they will make a gig or attend any event.

Uno de los temas más candentes en la red últimamente es, a raíz de los e-books, la autopublicación. Los defensores hablan de una libertad y llegar a un mayor mercado que, de otra manera, sería prácticamente imposible acceder. Los detractores hablan de un empobrecimiento de la calidad literaria. Pero, he aquí mi pregunta, si nos parece admirable que un artista grabe y se autoproduzca para poder enseñar su música a discográficas, dueños de locales y revistas, ¿por qué vemos el caso de poetas y escritores de narrativa tan diferente?
The topic of the hour is, because of the e-books, the self publishing. People in favour of self publishing talk about that it’s the only way to get your writing published, you have more freedom and control of your work otherwise you couldn´t get. People who is against it, they argue that it would mean a decrease of writing quality. My question is, if you admire the musician who record or self publish their own music to show it to Discography Industry, gigs venues owners and magazines, why do we think that poets and writers’ work is so different?
Mi opinión al respecto es que la autopublicación es como los blogs en internet: hay mucho, hay verdaderas maravillas y verdaderas pérdidas de tiempo. Pero lo que sí creo es que para destacar, hay que ofrecer un producto de calidad (no sólo calidad literaria, sino de diseño, publicación, etc.) que sea diferente y fácilmente identificable con un autor.
My personal view about self publishing is like internet’s blogs: there are many out there, some of them are impressive but many other are just a waste of time. But I do believe is to stand out, you should offer a high quality item (not only good writing quality but a good design, publishing, etc) it should be unique and easily linked to its author.
